In this daily Bible reading Jesus continues to preach His ‘Sermon on the Mount.’ Jesus compared hearing and acting on Jesus’ words to building a house with a good foundation. A house with a good foundation will weather the storms and remain standing. Living our lives according to the Word of God will indeed provide our lives with a solid foundation. This foundation will help us to weather the storms of life.
There will be many trials and temptations in our lives. It is very important how we respond to those trials and temptations. If our response to those trials and temptations involves sinning against God, we will not survive physically or spiritually. Our lives will be miserable, and we will be less likely to spend eternity in Heaven. However, if we build our lives in accordance to what the Word of God, The Bible, tells us, we will have lives that are joyful, healthy and prosperous. More importantly, we will likely spend eternity in Heaven.
It will not be easy to live our lives rightly before God. However, if we are sincere and persevere in living our lives according to the Word of God, God will help us to be successful and help us to avoid the sinful path. The Bible says, ‘The one who endures the end will be saved.’ We must therefore build our lives on a strong foundation so that we can endure to the end.
