In this daily Bible reading Jesus tells the people that they must not focus on possessions and wealth in this world. Rather they should focus on living according to the Word of God. A person’s wealth will not save them. The only thing that will save them is their demonstrated belief and Faith in Jesus Christ.

If we truly have Faith in God and Faith in Jesus, we will not worry or be anxious for wealth and possessions. God will provide for us the things we need. The Bible says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and the rest will be given you as well.”

The Bible also says that ‘if your wealth increases do not set your heart on it.’  Increased wealth has the effect of turning people away from God as they become entangled in managing their wealth. We should therefore strive to be ‘neither too rich nor too poor.’  Our possessions must be less important than living our lives with the Word of God, the Bible, as our guide.
