In this daily Bible reading Jesus tells His disciples, “From everyone who has been given much shall much be required.” With increased knowledge and understanding of God’s Word comes more responsibility to be obedient to God and to serve Him.
I think that active believers will become increasingly challenged as their lives progress and their Faith grows. However, with that increased Faith they will be more able to serve God and live according to God’s Word.
Also in these passages Jesus said, “Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on Earth? I tell you no, but rather division; for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two, and two against three. They will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against mother; mother-in-law against daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”
Belief in Jesus by one family member may not be shared by the other family members. A person who believes in Jesus may well be rejected or ostracized by his family, especially if the family has other religious beliefs. In that situation, the believer must not become discouraged. Rather, he or she must cling to their belief in Jesus-even at the expense of losing favor with their family.
It may feel like they are losing their life. However, the Bible says that he or she who loses their life for Jesus’ sake will actually save it. They may well be the only person in their family that is allowed into Heaven after they die.
