In this daily Bible reading is the account of Moses consecrating Aaron and his sons as priests before God. Moses was God’s representative here on Earth. God bestowed upon Moses great power and responsibility. Later, we see Moses and Elijah appearing to Jesus in ‘The Transfiguration.’
Elijah was one of God’s important representatives here on Earth. God also bestowed Elijah with great responsibility and power. The Bible reveals that these important positions before God were not easy. They were hard for the individual. In fact, Elijah seemed to run out of steam; and God replaced Elijah with Elisha.
Representing God and standing against evil is important, but it is also very difficult. Those who are chosen to do so will be ridiculed and rejected by the world. The world does not want to hear God’s Truths. Rather, the world wants to live in sin. Standing against evil in this world takes conviction, strength and endurance. This conviction, strength and endurance can only be sustained with God’s help.
