INSIGHT
Jude was one of Jesus’ biological brothers. Mary was a virgin when Jesus was born, having been impregnated by God’s Holy Spirit. However, after Jesus was born, she had other children with Joseph, including Jude and James.
In his letter, Jude spoke of ungodly persons who had infiltrated the Church to distort the Gospel message of Jesus. These people exist today. They are instruments of Satan whose purpose is to keep people from believing in Jesus. These false Christians have been effective in influencing those who are not firmly anchored in the Word of God. They use worldly logic to distort the Bible’s characterization of Jesus. This is significant.
We must accurately characterize Jesus before we can believe in Him. If we don’t accurately characterize Jesus, we cannot rightly believe in Him. For example, there is a professed Christian organization that wrongly views Jesus as a spiritual brother of Satan. This is contrary to what the Bible teaches. There is another professed Christian organization that does not believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God the Father. Again, this is contrary to what the Bible teaches.
A key question that reveals one’s true belief is, “Who do you say Jesus is?” It was a question that Jesus asked his disciples. The Apostle Peter answered correctly saying, “Thou art the Christ, the son of the living God.” That is who Jesus is, and He is the only way to Salvation.
