In these passages is the account of Jesus being taken captive by the Jews and Roman soldiers in the Garden of Gethsemane. Peter put up some resistance to Jesus’ arrest, but Jesus did not. Jesus said to Peter, “Put the sword into the sheath. The cup which the Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?”
Jesus knew it was God’s will for Jesus to be taken captive and crucified. It was certainly not an easy path to take. However, it was necessary for the atonement of sins and the redemption of mankind.
Jesus was obedient to God to the end of His earthly life. So too, must we strive to be obedient to God to the end of our lives here on Earth. It is not easy at times. However, we must live our lives according to the Word of God if we want to go to Heaven after we die.
