In these passages is the account of Jesus being taken captive by the Jews and Roman soldiers in the Garden of Gethsemane. Peter put up some resistance to Jesus’ arrest, but Jesus did not. Jesus said to Peter, “Put the sword into the sheath; the cup which the Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?”
Jesus knew it was God’s will for Jesus to be taken captive and crucified. It was certainly not an easy path to take, but it was necessary for the atonement of sins and the redemption of mankind.
Jesus was obedient to God to the end of His earthly life. So too, must we be obedient to God to the end of our lives here on Earth. It is the only way to be covered by the shed blood of Jesus and be allowed into Heaven.
