In this daily Bible reading Isaiah prophesies the destruction of the 10 northern tribes of Israel and their deportation to Assyria. However, even as God was planning the destruction of Israel, He was also planning Israel’s restoration and redemption.

Isaiah prophesied Jesus’ coming into the world and establishing His ministry in the region of Galilee. Indeed, Jesus did live in the town of Capernaum on the sea of Galilee where He gathered His disciples. Isaiah also prophesied that Jesus would one day be King of Israel and His Kingdom would last forever. This prophecy has yet to be for filled, but I believe it will happen very soon, even in my lifetime.

In roughly 2030 it will be 2000 years since Jesus was crucified. The Bible says that Jesus rose from the dead on the third day after he was killed. The Bible says that to God 1000 years is like a day. If to God 1000 years is like a day, then the third day is coming very soon.

The Bible also speaks of Jesus’ Millennial Kingdom. When Jesus returns, He will rule as King of the Earth for 1000 years. I believe this 1000 years is what the Bible calls  ‘the day of the Lord.’  It is a ‘day’ we should eagerly anticipate.
