INSIGHT
In this daily Bible reading the writer speaks of God’s new covenant with Israel through Jesus Christ. Jesus had replaced the old covenant which God made through Moses. Israel broke this covenant with God, and God has punished Israel for doing so. However, God did not totally abandon Israel. He has preserved a remnant.
Many in the Jewish community do not believe that there is a new covenant through Jesus. In their religion, they cling to the old covenant. They know that a messiah is coming one day, but they don’t believe that Jesus is the Messiah. So, they cling to their old rituals. They are aware of Jesus. However, they believe that He was a teacher and a prophet and not the Messiah.
The Bible says that one day they will believe that Jesus is the Messiah. The Bible says, “They will look upon Him whom they have pierced.” They will weep and mourn for what they did to Jesus. Jesus will forgive and restore them when Jesus returns to rule the Earth. All Jews will believe in Him. They will know that God has made a new covenant through Jesus, and they will believe Jesus.
The Bible says that God will put His Laws into their hearts so that they will know Him. I believe that Jesus, who the Bible says is the living Word of God, will facilitate this. He will put God’s laws into their hearts through His teaching, instruction, and guidance.
