In this daily Bible reading is the account of the generations from Adam to Noah and the great flood. This was a period of about 2000 years. God destroyed all of mankind, land animals, and birds because sin had totally corrupted the world. Only Noah and his family survived because Noah alone was deemed righteous by God.
God commanded Noah to build a very large boat called an Ark. This boat was roughly 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet tall. Inside it had three levels. God also commanded Noah to bring with him a male and female of all animal and bird species, so that the animal population would be preserved after the flood. Also with Noah were his wife and three sons: Shem, Ham, Japheth, and their wives. With these people and animals, God would repopulate the world after having cleansed it of sin.
A time is coming, and I believe very soon, when God will again cleanse the world of sin. This time it won’t be a flood. God will cleanse the world using war, disease, famine, and pestilence. God will remove people who are given over to sin in preparation for Jesus Christ’s return to the Earth.
