In this daily Bible reading is the account of Abraham sending his servant to the country of Abraham’s relatives to find a wife for Abraham’s son, Isaac. Abraham did not want Isaac to marry a woman from the land of the Canaanites where Abraham was living. Abraham was confident that God would find the right wife for Isaac and would guide Abraham’s servant to her.

Abraham’s servant journeyed to the town of Abraham’s relatives and stopped with his camels at the city water well. He prayed that one of their girls at the well who drew water would be the one for Isaac. Before the servant had even completed his prayer, Rebekah appeared before him. She was Abrahams great-niece, the granddaughter of Abraham’s brother, Nahor. She invited Abraham’s servant to stay at her home with her brother, Laban, and her father, Bethuel.

When the servant told his story about Abraham sending him to find a wife for Isaac, the family agreed to send Rebekkah back to become Isaac’s wife. This was another example of Abraham’s Faith in God. Abraham was confident that God would find a wife for his son, Isaac.

God desires people to live by Faith. The Bible says, “Without Faith, it is impossible to please God.”  Abraham did please God. So should we.
