In this daily Bible reading God speaks through Ezekiel about the return of Israel. God punished Israel as a nation and as a people for their transgressions. When God determined the punishment was sufficient, His intention was to restore them to the land promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Interestingly, God said He was doing this, restoring them, for God’s own sake. Ezekiel wrote, “Thus says the Lord God, it is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for My Holy Name, which you have profaned among the nations.”
For centuries people around the world have mocked God’s chosen people and considered them second-rate citizens. But now they are being restored to Israel from around the world. Since its recent reestablishment in 1948, Israel has grown into a prosperous nation; and their military has become very powerful. Israel’s scientific and technological innovations and advances are impressive.
Israel is gaining newfound respect from all nations. Israel has also become very charitable, helping other nations in need, including enemies. Indeed, God is restoring His Holy name in the minds of those who see God’s work in all of this.
The Bible says that Israel will become the world’s center of government one day. The Bible also says that Jesus will return to the Earth and be King of the World. His home will be in Jerusalem. I believe this will happen in the near future.
