In this daily Bible reading Paul tells the Ephesian Church that the Church should be a place of unity and love for one another. The Church members should be ‘diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.’ To this end, God gave the church members certain gifts that work to help in unifying the Church under Jesus Christ’s headship. These gifts include becoming prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers whose purpose was to equip the Saints or believers to maintain and to grow the Church. They also served to preserve the Church and defend it against the inevitable attempts of Satan to destroy it.
The early Church was simple and pure. Its members prayed, helped each other, worshipped God, and learned about Jesus. Over time more requirements were added. Teachings about Jesus became distorted. However, God has preserved His Word, the Bible, through the centuries so that those who want to know the Truth can find it.
The Bible has survived many attempts to discredit it, but those attempts have failed. The Bible is so unique. It contains 66 books written by 40 authors over a period of 1500 year by authors who range from peasants to Kings. All of the books harmonize perfectly to tell the story of God’s redemption of mankind. The Bible is miraculous in its content.
Fulfilled prophecies prove the Bible originates from God. There are over 300 prophecies about Jesus. Most of which have been fulfilled precisely. The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls proves these prophecies were written before Jesus was born. The Truth is clear to those who want to find it. Mankind is without excuse.
