In this daily Bible reading Solomon finishes the book of Ecclesiastes. A couple of passages or points stand out to me this morning. First, Solomon says, “Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years  draw near when you will say, I have no delight in them.” In other words, a person should learn to fear God sooner than later in life. For when one grows old their senses dull and habit patterns have been long established. The motivation to change diminishes. The motivation to believe in God diminishes. It is much more difficult for an older person to embrace God’s Truths and walk by them.

The second passage that spoke to me this morning is Solomon’s conclusion: “Fear God and keep His commandments because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or bad.” Solomon’s conclusion is true. If one wants a good life and a better eternity, one must fear God and live by his commandments. It is the only way. Shunning God and living contrary to His commands will lead to a bad life and a worse eternity.
