In this daily Bible reading Moses finishes writing God’s Commandments. These Commandments would guide Israel to live properly before God. Israel was commanded to read God’s Commandments every seven years in the hearing of all the people, to teach the future generations.
God told Moses that the people would turn away from God after they became established in the land. However, there would always be a remnant that would be faithful to God. God’s Word would be essential for that remnant. The Bible says, “Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” It was essential for the people to hear the Word of God.
Israel turned away from God, and God punished them. However, God forgave their sins when they turned back to Him. It was therefore essential to remind them of God’s Commandments so they would know how to turn back to Him.
