In this daily Bible reading Moses again tells the people that they will be blessed if they obey God. He also tells them they will be cursed and removed the land if they turn away from God. It is evident to me that God knew Israel would turn away from Him. He also knew that He would eventually return them to the land when they called out to Him.
Interestingly, Moses said to the people, “Yet to this day the Lord has not given you a heart to know, nor eyes to see, nor ears to hear.” I believe this is also part of God’s plan. We cannot perceive God’s Truths unless God enables us to do so. The Bible says that in the end times God will enable Israel to receive His Truths and give them hearts that will be inclined toward Him. Additionally, the Bible says that God will “circumcise” their hearts.
The Bible also says that we cannot repent of our sins unless God ‘grants us repentance.’ Additionally, we cannot believe in Jesus unless God enables us to do so.
I am personally grateful that God has given me a hunger for His Truth and enabled me to believe in Jesus Christ. It doesn’t mean I am guaranteed a spot in Heaven, though. The Bible says that I must persevere in my belief and Faith in Jesus until the end of my life. In the mean time I will have a healthy Hope for my Salvation.
