In this daily Bible reading Moses continues to instruct the people on their behavior when they enter the land. Of prime importance was keeping them faithful to God and not being enticed by the indigenous population to turn away from God. Also, Moses told the people that after Moses was dead, God would raise up Prophets from among them who would tell the people God’s instructions, counsel and guidance. Israel needed such guidance to remain faithful to God, because their natural tendency was to turn away.
So, it is today. Believers, or followers of Jesus Christ, need guidance to stay on track. Instead of Prophets, God has given us His Word, the Bible, to guide us. However, we should not merely read the Bible. We should live our lives according to the Bible’s guidance.
