In these passages is the account of the Jews falsely charging Stephen with teaching against the laws of Moses. The Jews brought him before the Jewish leadership. Stephen was asked if the charges were true. This gave Stephen an opportunity to recount Israel’s history to the Council.
Stephen was a disciple of Jesus Christ, blessed by God and empowered by God. Stephen was anchored in the Word of God as evidenced by his recounting Israel’s history in detail to the Jewish high priest.
We cannot be effective disciples for Jesus Christ unless we too are firmly anchored in the Word of God. We must exert effort to gain the knowledge necessary to represent Jesus on this Earth. It will not come automatically.
