In this daily Bible reading is the account of Paul appearing before governor Festus and King Agrippa. When Paul was allowed to speak, he told his story of conversion from a dedicated Pharisee to a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. Paul told them how Jesus personally changed him and selected him to preach about Jesus to both the Jews and the Gentiles.
Jesus had told Paul that Paul’s mission was to “Open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, in order that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by Faith in Me.”
The Bible says that this world is spiritually ruled by Satan. Satan puts people in bondage and encourages them to sin. Their lives of sin will lead them to spiritual destruction and eternal separation from God, who cannot coexist with sin.
Jesus’ voluntarily death on a Roman cross atoned for our sins so that we may have a way to God. However, it is conditional on our belief and trust in Jesus. Then and only then will Jesus’ shed blood cover our sins so that we may exist with God in His Heavenly Kingdom.
We must turn from our sins and live according to Jesus’ guidance for us. And Jesus’ guidance can only be found in the Bible, the Word of God. The Bible must become part of our daily lives. It must become for us ‘a lamp for our feet and a light for our path.’ Following this path will lead us to Heaven and eternity with God. Praise God!
