This Proverb says, “The wrath of a king is a message of death, but a wise man will appease it. In the light of a King’s face is life, and his favor is like a cloud of spring rain.”

In ancient Israel a king had great power to do many things. He could make decisions without the concurrence or permission of any other government officials. He also held the power of life and death. A person who annoyed the king could easily face death.

God has such power. He holds the power of life and death, both physically and spiritually. God has greater power than any king on Earth ever had. He can determine a person’s destination after they die; a destination that lasts eternally.

The Bible says that God is angered by sin and wickedness. It also says that God is pleased with righteousness. A person who is righteous lives rightly before God. In so doing they gain wisdom. They then apply this wisdom to remain on the pathway of righteousness. In this manner a wise person will not be subjected to God’s anger. A wise person will live.

Whereas a person given to sin will incur God’s wrath. God will inflict many hardships on such a person during their life. Worse, God will give them spiritual death after they physically die.

it is far better to walk the pathway of righteousness during one’s life. Doing so will prevent God’s anger and lead to life everlasting.”
