These passages contain two Proverbs. The first Proverb says, “The wicked is thrust down by his wrongdoing, but the righteous has a refuge when he dies.”

This Proverb somewhat describes the final destinations of the wicked and the righteous. Those who are wicked during their lifetime will Indulge in sinful pursuits. However they will experience pain and misery after they die. As this Proverb indicates God will ‘thrust them down.’ On the other hand, the righteous may endure trials as they walk according to God’s Word during their life on Earth. However, God will grant them a refuge in Heaven for all eternity after they die.

The second Proverb says, wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, but in the bosom of fools it is made known.”

This Proverb indicates that God will grant a person who understands God’s Truths wisdom to apply their understanding. Such a person will not flaunt their wisdom. Rather, they will internalize it and use their wisdom to shape their decisions and actions.

Whereas, a fool who thinks they have understanding will flaunt what they think they know. They will arrogantly apply their misguided worldview and stumble through life. They will not seek real truth. Rather, they will cling to their self-conceived notions of truth and blindly proceed to their own destruction.
