This Proverb says, “How blessed is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding. For its profit is better than the profit of silver, and its gain more than fine gold. She is more precious than jewels; And nothing you desire compares with her.”
What is wisdom? Wisdom is knowing how to apply knowledge. What is understanding? Understanding is knowing how to interpret the knowledge that we receive. When we understand the knowledge we receive through study and experience, we can then make good decisions on how to think, speak, and act. We are then able to conduct our lives so that they will result in blessings for us and our families.
As this Proverb says, having understanding and wisdom is more valuable than all the riches in the world. Riches are of no use if we aren’t able to use the riches wisely.
So then, we should seek wisdom above all else. That is the key to a good life. That is the key to walking the right path before God. That is the key to making it into Heaven after we die.
How do we gain wisdom? The Bible says that wisdom is a gift from God. He grants wisdom to those who believe in Him and ask for it. Therefore, the first step to gaining wisdom is to believe in God. Once we do that, the rest will fall in line. We will then be building our lives on a strong foundation.
