This Proverb speaks about those who gain their possession through violence or those who steal from others. Solomon advises his son not to join in with thieves and robbers because that path will lead to spiritual destruction. Solomon says to his son, “My son do not walk in the way with them. Keep your feet from their path, for their feet run to evil, and they hasten to shed blood…. They lie in wait for their own blood; they ambush their own lives. So are the ways of everyone who gains by violence; It takes away the life of its possessors.”
In America today we see lawlessness in our cities. Violence is increasing. Thievery is increasing. Bands of people openly steal from stores and individuals. Unfortunately, they are not restrained or arrested. America is in a steep moral decline.
This situation is prophesied in the Bible. The Bible says that in the end times, violence and lawlessness will increase. It will be called the period of Great Tribulation. Evil will dramatically increase. However, the Bible also says that evil will be destroyed. Those who are lawless will be removed and sent to Hell where they will be in anguish forever.
Therefore, the message of this Proverb is true. People who gain through violence and steal from others destroy themselves. Unfortunately, they do not perceive this fact and are given to evil. Do not join with them or you, too, will be destroyed.
