In this daily Bible reading Paul tells the Philippian Church that he has learned to be content in whatever situation that God has placed him. When Paul wrote this letter to the Philippian Church he was in a Roman prison. However, Paul was at peace. Paul said, “I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
The Bible says that when we believe in Jesus, God allows HIs Holy Spirit to be in us. We then gain the fruits of the Holy Spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These fruits will sustain us wherever we are and in whatever circumstance we find ourselves. God gives us the ability to trust Him for our protection both physically and spiritually. We will have a ‘peace that surpasses all understanding.’
Whenever I find myself in a challenging situation and anxiety starts to build, I recall scripture passages from the Bible that help me. One of the most helpful passages for me is this one: “Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” When I recall this passage my worries and anxieties go away, and I have great peace knowing God is in control of everything. I know that God will work all things out for me and my loved ones.
