In this third letter of the Apostle John, John says the following: “Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God. The one who does evil has not seen God.” John provides a simple test to separate believers from nonbelievers. Those who are of God do good. Those who are not of God do evil. Therefore, it is important that we correctly identify what is good and what is evil.
Today in America and in the world, the difference between what is good and what is evil has become blurred. Sometimes good things are called evil and evil things are called good. So, how can we distinguish between good and evil? There is only one way. That is by reading the Bible. The Bible is Truth, and it clearly distinguishes between good and evil.
Consider abortion. America and the world have accepted and embraced abortion. However, if we read the Bible, we can clearly see that abortion is murder. It is evil. In Psalm 139 the psalmist, King David, says to God, “You have knit me together in my mother’s womb. I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” A reasonable person would deduce that abortion is murdering God’s miraculous creation, a living baby. Abortion is indeed evil.
