In this daily Bible reading Paul speaks to Timothy about the gift of Faith that was given to both Paul and Timothy. Paul instructs Timothy to “guard through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us the treasure which has been entrusted to you.” Having Faith in Jesus Christ is a gift from God. The Bible says that we cannot come to Jesus unless God draws us to Him. To the world, belief in Jesus is foolishness. It doesn’t make logical sense. It is not supported by science or data. The world ridicules those who do have Faith in Jesus. However, Faith in Jesus is a real thing. It is God’s plan for Salvation.
The Bible says that after we die we will spend eternity and either Heaven or Hell. The requirement to enter Heaven is to believe in Jesus Christ and to trust in Him to guide us there. The Bible says that Jesus is ‘the Way, the Truth, and the Life. And that no one comes to the Father but through Jesus.’ Jesus, therefore, is the only pathway to Heaven. Religion will not get us there. Only true belief in Jesus get us to Heaven.
So then, how can we gain this true belief in Jesus? The Bible says that “the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.” Our pathway starts there. First, believe that God is real and that He created everything. Also realize that God has tremendous powers to punish or bless. Therefore we must restrain ourselves from sinful pursuits, being motivated by our healthy fear of God. At some point after having this belief, God will draw us to Jesus and grant us true repentance for the sins in our lives.
