In these passages Paul tells the Thessalonians about the end times, the seven-year period just prior to the return of Jesus. Paul tells them about the coming of a dynamic leader of the resurrected Roman empire. This would be the European community. The Bible characterizes this leader as ‘the antichrist: The one who’s coming is in accord with the activity of Satan with all power signs and wonders, and with the deception of wickedness for those who perish because they did not receive the love of the Truth so as to be saved.’
This leader, who the Bible calls the antichrist, will deceive the masses into worshiping him. But those who are well anchored in the Word of God, the Bible, will not be deceived. They will stand firm in God’s truth, and many of them will be killed by the government.
In the end times, believing in Jesus Christ will become illegal. Belief in Jesus will be punishable by death. True believers must be willing to lose their lives standing for the Truth. But the Bible says that ‘those who endure to the end will be saved.’
