In this daily Bible reading is the account of God telling Moses in detail how the Tabernacle and its objects of worship were to be moved. The Tabernacle was to be managed by the tribe of Levi. The tribe of Levi consisted of three divisions: The Gershonites, the Merari-ites, and the Kohathites. Those who were between the ages of 30 and 50 years old were to do the work.  The Gershonites were to pack and move the fabric of the tabernacle. The Merari-ites were to move the wooden structure of the tabernacle.

The Kohathites were to move the Holy implements of worship: the ark, the table of the presence, the lampstand, and the altar. These were to be carefully covered with blue cloth and porpoise skins. They were to be carried on the shoulders of the Kohathites with poles inserted through rings attached to the Holy objects. They were not to be put into carts.

The Holy objects were to be removed from the tabernacle first.  Then the cloth coverings of the tabernacle were removed and packed. Finally, the wooden structure was dismantled and put into carts drawn by oxen. In this matter, the tabernacle was moved. When Israel arrived at a place that they would stay, the Tabernacle was set up in reverse order.
