In this daily Bible reading Peter says the following: “Keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.” The Bible says that we will be punished for the sins we commit here on Earth. However, I believe Peter’s words indicate that we can avoid some punishment by our love for others.

The Bible says that turning a person away from a sinful life will also cover a multitude of sins. So, the Bible gives us ways to avoid being punished for some sins in our life. Our love for others is one of those ways. The Bible places great value on love.

In fact, all of God’s commandments for mankind can be summed up in two commandments: Love God and love our neighbors.

What is love for God? Simply put, the Bible says that our love for God is evidenced by our obedience to Him. What is loving our neighbors?  It is having genuine concern for and caring for others.

The Bible says that love is patient, love is kind, it is not arrogant. It does not delight in something bad happening to another person, and it keeps no record of wrongs.

The Bible also says that all things here on Earth will pass away. Only three things will endure forever: Faith, Hope, and Love. The Bible says that the most important of these three is Love. Love never fails.
