In this daily Bible reading the Apostle Peter says the following: “Beloved I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.” This war between the flesh and the soul will continue in our lives even after we believe in Jesus Christ. It is a struggle that will continue until we die. If we don’t struggle against sin, then we are not true believers. This struggle is strong evidence of our belief.

Non-believers do not struggle against sin. They are in bondage to sin in their lives, and they are totally given over to sin. They cannot break free of sin. True believers in Jesus Christ are given the ability to break free of sin. Jesus said that He came to the Earth to set people free.

The Bible says that Jesus is the Truth. Our belief in Jesus will open our eyes to the Truth, and we will know how to conduct our lives here on Earth. We will know that we must stop sinning, and we will be given the desire and ability to turn away from sin. We will still be tempted to sin. However, we will know how to arm ourselves against sin and resist temptation. This struggle will and must continue for the rest of our lives if we want to go to Heaven.
