INSIGHT
In this daily Bible reading the Apostle, John, distinguishes between spirits that are from God and spirits that are not from God. Spirits that are from God ‘confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh.’ Spirits that are not from God do not confess that Jesus has come into the world.
John says that the Spirit of God indwells believers. John further says, “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” The satanic spirits around us cannot destroy us if we have God’s Holy Spirit within us. The satanic spirits are weaker than God’s Holy Spirit.
The Bible says that nothing can separate us from the love of God if we remain faithful and true to God. However, if we depart from God and give ourselves over to sin, we will be vulnerable to satanic spirits and lose our protection. Then, Satan will be free to destroy us and keep us from God.
The Bible says that many have departed from their belief in Jesus. The Bible also says that in the ‘end times’ many more will depart. A very sobering passage in the Bible says that if we believe in Jesus and enjoy the spiritual benefits of our belief and then depart from our belief; then it is impossible to return to true belief. Those who depart will be condemned to an eternity of agony and pain in Hell.
